With a celebrity filled front row and a lot of hype the PPQ show was not going to disappoint. Peaches and Pixie looked on, Erin O\'Connor was as glamorous as ever and Alex Chung sat next to hip designer Henry Holland. Backstage it was all go with make-up artist Athena Skouvakis using Collection 2000 products to create the finished look.

PPQ: Naturally tough

The makeup for the PPQ show was a natural look mixed with a tough edge. Think fresh dewy skin contrasting with strong long eye brows. The eyes are kept simple with minimal mascara, the brows do all the talking. The lips are simply patted with a berry coloured stain  - the trick is, not to over do it so brush the stain onto the back of your hand and then dab it onto your lips.

What they used for the lip stain:

Collection 2000 - The Cheek of It! £3.99 Boots.com

PPQ: Accentuate the cheeks

The magic product that Athena says really completes this look is the Illuminating Highlighter that helps to accentuate the cheek bones and conceal any dark circles. Secondly is a good mascara that extends the lashes without leaving them overly thick - its all about looking natural.

The skin is finished off with a sheer mineral powder to keep it looking fresh. The cheeks are left bare and the nails are painted red for a flash of colour!

What they used:
Collection 2000 Magi-Length mascara £4.99
Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch highlighter £4.99
Perfecting Minerals powder £4.99
Maxi Flex Nail Polish in Blazing Red £2.49
All at Boots nationwide

Jaeger\'s spring summer show was eagerly anticipated with Elizabeth Jagger, Shirley Bassey and Leah Woods gracing the front row. Make-up artist Hannah Murray followed a natural dreamy look with a bold eye and dewy cheeks using MAC. Simply gorgeous for the new season ahead...

Jaeger: Dreamy and dewy

The main trends for this show created by Hannah Murray was a bold eye and dewy cheeks. The eyes and the shimmering cheeks do all the talking and the skin is flawless. The eye liner is added heavily to the inside of the eye and because of this Hannah didn\'t use any mascara.

What they used:
New Mac Eye Shadow in Pink Berry £10
Mac Eye Kohl in Black £11, both nationwide

Jaeger: Iridescent

The lips are practically bare. Firstly Hannah added lip balm, removed the excess and then just dabbed lightly over the top any leftover eye shadow that she had on her hand. The rest of the skin was brushed over with a mineral powder to give it sheer finish. Hannah said she wanted to create an overall look which was romantic with a slightly tough edge. It\'s very iridescent with the main focus being on the wash of pink on the cheeks.

What they used:
Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Powder £16.50, nationwide

Show: Margaret Howell

The make-up theme for this show was a bit of a young, modern naughty look! The idea is a rather \'worn\' make-up look that\'s got a hint of an edge to it - think public school girl who also sneaks out at night! We watched Sam Bryant created this rather beautiful look using MAC...

Keep it bare

beauty,make-up,london fashion week Margaret Howell beauty backstage london fashion week
The main trick to this look is the ‘under made-over\' look - you want to look like you are hardly wearing any make-up at all. Keep the base light and only conceal what needs to be concealed. Sam recommended using a good foundation brush to apply a thin layer of cover to work the make-up in well and also remove any excess on the surface. Keep cheeks bare.

What they used:
Mac Foundation Brush - numbers #187, £28 and #188, £25

Both nationwide

Smudging

The eyes and lips want to create the illusion of the ‘morning after\' look. Therefore Sam applied eye liner and then lightly took it off again to create that smudged smokey look. Let\'s face it - you can\'t fake a look that shows half taken off make-up - you actually have to do it! For this look you don\'t need mascara. The central focus is probably the lips. Use a red lip liner to draw around the lips and then softly fill them in and then you\'ve guessed it - smudge the lipstick off with a tissue or your fingers to give it that ‘worn\' look.

It may seem like a lot of work for a ‘hardly any make-up\' look, but trust us, its well worth it!

What they used:
MAC Eye Kohl in Phone Number £11
MAC Redd lip pencil £9.00, both nationwide

Show: Hemyca

Hemyca is an up and coming fashion label and one to watch out for. This was their first show at London Fashion Week with the emphasis on beautiful tailoring and strong lines. Benefit make-up artist Rachel Wood worked wonders creating beautiful eye art on the models to complete the look.

Hemyca: Eye art

eyeliner,Benefit, london fashion week Model backstage at Hemyca london show London Fashion Week for Spring Summer 09
Rachel chose to have a very artistic design on the eye as she said it reminded her of the texture of lace. Using the Benefit Babecakes she drew on the design, later going over it with glitter. If you want to adapt this into real life, Rachel suggests doing smaller designs with eye liner that will give a bit of unique look to the eyes.

What they used:
Benefit Babecakes, £15.50 double eye liner set, benefitcosmetics.co.uk

Hemyca: Highlighted contours

beauty,Benefit,make-up,london fashion week Model backstage at Hemyca london show London Fashion Week for Spring Summer 09
The rest of the look is very natural. Using a matte finish foundation and a natural lip gloss the main emphasis was on the highlighted contours of the face. This is a popular look for next season so get your hands on a hightlighter which Rachel put on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chest to give the models a really dewy look.

It seems it\'s all about the eyes and the cheeks for next season...get out that eyeliner and invest in a highlighter - natural glamour is back!

What they used:
Benefit High Beam £15.50, face highlighter, benefitcosmetics.co.uk
