During New York Fashion Week, Nars Cosmetics make-up artist James Kaliardos created a new take on the smoky eye look for Rodarte. Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the designers for Rodarte, cited Van Goghs artwork as their inspiration for Spring/Summer 2012, so James used the iconic Starry Night painting as his starting point. Its a really beautiful, round, smoky eye with gradations of blue, then theres this beautiful lavender lip, complemented by warm skin.
There is a real buzz around navy eye make-up at the moment it looks much more contemporary than classic grey tones. With Nars making it a hit on the catwalks this Fashion Week, it looks like this beauty trend will continue to get stronger and stronger.
To achieve luminous, ethereal skin, James used Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer - new for Spring 2012; for a similar affect try a light application of Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Cheeks were given just a hint of colour with Nars Cream Blush in the pinky Penny Lane shade.
The incredible navy smokey eye was created by layering and blending Nars Single Eyeshadows in Night Flight and Tropic, while definition was added with Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue Saint-Honore. Subtle highlights were created using Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte.
For the subtle lavender lips, James shunned conventional lip products, opting instead to use a mixture of Nars Cream Blush in Penny Lane and Cream Eyeshadow in Pearl Beach, with just a touch of Lip Gloss in Nana to finish.
