Make-up
Spring runways were awash with fresh, flirty florals from Marc Jacobs to Dolce & Gabbanna so it's time to show off your feminine side with some pretty, girly fun.
Swap autumn's femme fatale looks and ruby colours with soft, pastel hues to light up your spring days. Think pretty lilacs or iridescent pinks such as Dream Mousse Eyecolors, £5.99 from Maybelline NY, which have that light and airy Spring-time feel. Fabulous Turquoise or Divine Gold are firm favourites for this romantic look.
Let skin breathe with light and dewy foundations and turn your shade of bronzer down a few notches too. Create a soft, chiselled effect rather than a deep Cali-tan by using two shades of light bronzer to highlight face. This can be achieved with Glam Bronze Duo in Blonde Harmony from L'Oréal Paris, £9.99, by using the dark shade to highlight nose, temples and under-cheekbones, and the lighter shade to accentuate inner and outer corners of eyes and tops of cheeks. It's a modern-day makeup look.
Hair
As makeup makes a return to romance, so hair does too. Let those Forty's curls down and give them a good shake as sexy dishevelled is one of the looks du jour this spring. This look is all about texture and volume so the key is in the prepping and finish.
Use a body-boosting mousse like Garnier Fructis Style Body & Volume XXL Mousse, £xx on damp hair and curl in a random, non-uniformed way using tongs or rollers. After combing through with fingers, spritz with a body-boosting spray or use a texturising paste such as Dirty Clean the new one from L'Oréal Paris Studio Line , £4.29. It's a malleable paste to give strands definition and added oomph - just rub in between fingers and twizzle and twist hair as you please. Finish with a fine mist of hairspray to hold in place against the dewy spring weather.
Skin
Basic should be switched with savvy so it's to revamp your skincare regime this spring with the latest editions and must-have formulas. Anti-age is always big and continues to get bigger with new specialist creams and ingredients to help slow signs of ageing and improve skin tone and condition.
Garnier have introduced a first ever anti-wrinkle roll-on cream, Garnier UltraLift Pro-X, £11.99, designed to stimulate and tone skin around jowls and neck. Formulated with natural ingredients to boost hydration and plump up skin, it can be used as a moisturiser or with existing anti-age products.
More mature skin should reach for the retinol (a skin-saving ingredient from vitamin A) as it's a top anti-ageing ingredient and a hot favourite amongst celebrities. The latest addition to the Revitalift range from L'Oréal Paris is the Deep-Set Wrinkles Restoring Day Cream with SPF15, £15.99. The easily absorbed emulsion, with an innovative Vitaman A complex, adds radiance and smoothness to more mature skins and ensures further fine lines are kept well at bay.
