Kylie Minogue - Sweet Darling

Kylie Minogue, fragrance, celebrity style kylie minogue sweet darling

The second in the Kylie perfume wardrobe, Sweet Darling got a mixed review depending on tastes - if you like your perfumes sweet and vanilla-infused, you\'ll love it, otherwise the cotton candy can be a little too sickly for some. Overall, though, Kylie gets the thumbs-up and a place on the A-list

Kylie Minogue Sweet Darling, £19.50 (30ml); stockists: Boots stores nationwide

Kate Moss - Kate

Kate Moss,fragrance kate moss perfume

It\'s the most talked-about of all the new celebrity scents and, according to our testers, it\'s one of the best. Feminine, floral and subtle, Kate goes straight to the top of the A-list

Kate by Kate Moss, £21 (30ml); available nationwide

Gwen Stefani - L

Gwen Stefani,fragrance gwen stefani perfume

Taking the first letter from her brand LAMB, L stands for love - but did our testers feel the love for Gwen\'s debut fragrance? Well, yes - this fragrance is fresh, fruity, feminine and gets the handbag seal of approval

Gwen Stefani L, £23 (30ml); available nationwide

Coleen McLoughlin - Coleen

Coleen Rooney,fragrance coleen mcloughlin perfume

If Coleen\'s first fragrance had been released as a room scent rather than a perfume, it might have performed better with our testers. ‘Synthetic, strong and masculine\' were some of the comments that meant WAG Coleen is relegated to the Z-list

Coleen, £19.95 (100ml); stockists: 0870 8503868

Paris Hilton - Heiress

Paris Hilton, fragrance paris hilton heiress perfume

Comments ranged from ‘too fruity, smells like sweets\' to ‘is it a room freshener?\'. A perfume from Paris was never going to be subtle, and the ever-so-fruity notes are definitely aimed at a younger market than our 20- and 30-something testers. The heiress won\'t be happy with her Z-list status

Paris Hilton Heiress, £26 (50ml); stockists: 0845 6883343

Sarah Jessica Parker - Covet

sarah Jessica Parker, fragrance sarah jessica parker covet

You\'d expect a style icon like SJP to have a gorgeous-looking bottle for her latest fragrance release, but how does Covet rate in the smell stakes? Some found it too light, others too sweet and girly, but some reviewers thought it was a great daytime scent. That, and its oh-so cute container, means Covet makes it into the A-list

Sarah Jessica Parker Covet, £23 (30ml); available nationwide

The Beckhams - Intimately Beckham Night

David Beckham,Victoria Beckham, fragrance victoria beckham celebrity perfume

Victoria and David aren\'t known for their understated, subtle style, so we were expecting their new scent to smell, well - potent. Instead, Intimately Beckham Night received rave reviews - warm, musky and sophisticated. The Beckhams make it to the A-list at last

Intimately Beckham Night, £19.50 (30ml); available nationwide

Celine Dion - Paris Nights

fragrance,celine_dion celine dion perfume

She\'s the queen of the power ballad, but can Celine pull in the punters with her Paris Nights perfume? Many thought this would suit a more mature woman, while others found it heavy and overpowering, but overall most found it wearable, so songstress Celine makes it into our A-list

Celine Dion Paris Nights, £12.95 (30ml); available nationwide

Sean John - Unforgivable

fragrance,sean_john,puff_daddy,perfume sean john perfume

It seems that the smell of Puffy\'s fragrance is more forgivable than its unfortunate name. Sean John gets the handbag nod with its fresh, feminine notes

Sean John Unforgivable Woman, £35 (70ml); department stores nationwide

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera, fragrance, celebrity news christina aguilera perfume

The long-standing rivalry between Britney and Christina has moved from the stage to the perfume counter and Ms Aguilera has come out fighting. Though the perfume was ‘young and quite generic\', it generally fared well with our testers, who thought it was ‘feminine and sexy\'

Christina Aguilera, £19 (50ml); available nationwide

Jennifer Lopez - Glow

Jennifer Lopez,fragrance jennifer lopez perfume

J-Lo is an old hand at the celebrity scent game - she now has five to her name. Glow was highly rated by our testers, who found it soft, floral and feminine, though some found it a little sweet. An A-list scent for an A-list star

Jennifer Lopez Glow, £21 (30ml); available nationwide

Mariah Carey

mariah Carey,fragrance mariah carey perfume

Songstress Mariah got mixed reviews for her debut fragrance. In the end, though, comments including ‘smells attractive\' and ‘I would wear it\' were drowned out by the more vocal Z-list camp, who thought it was ‘too sweet and fruity\', ‘slightly overpowering\' and ‘old fashioned\'

Mariah Carey, £25; stockists: Debenhams, Boots and Superdrug

Britney Spears - Fantasy

Britney Spears,fragrance britney spears perfume

Poor old Brit - her career is in a nose-dive, her private life is in the papers for all the wrong reasons and now her fragrance is bringing her down. The fruit-filled Fantasy did nothing for our testers\' noses. Britney, the Z-list beckons

Britney Spears Fantasy, £27 (50ml); Boots stores nationwide

Danielle Steel

books,fragrance danielle steel perfume

Better known for blockbuster books than beauty Danielle Steel wanted to capture the romance and hope of her novels for her first fragrance. Unfortunately it missed the mark for our testers who found it overly sweet and a little synthetic. Her books may be bestsellers but we\'re sending the perfume to the bargain basement.

Danielle by Danielle Steel £12.50 (30ml) available at Boots stores nationwide
