You should know about...this seasons hottest coral lipsticks
The colour on everyone's lips this month is coral. Sadly for most of us, that conjures up images of the shimmering frosted coral lipstick that your auntie has worn since getting it in a bad gift-with-purchase somewhere in the mid 1960's. And with that image planted, it is hard to even envision finding one even remotely wearable. I myself had visions of overly tanned brown leather women on a beach in Malaga! But unlike a rose being a rose by any other name, there are some gorgeous corals on the counters right now that have changed my mind for good. The key seems to be in the texture. The dreaded corals we all remember were thick and opaque - like cantaloupe melon coloured Tipex, quite the image. But the new breed comes in translucent, sheer and glossy versions that enhance both pale and tanned complexions, as well as perfectly picking up the summer trends for turquoise, aqua and white.
If you are a true sceptic, have a look at Clarins' Crystal Coral lipstick, it's ultra sheer and barely there. I also love Shiseido Tender Sheer in PK327 (a little more pinkie and easy to wear if you are paler or a little more mature) or Chantecaille's Flirt lip gloss, plus once you get a little colour, you can try something that is more than a sheer like Chantecaille China Rose or Clinique Lip Smoothie in Peach Power.
And for the truly brave and fashionista's among you, Tom Ford True Coral, not for the faint hearted but a stunner of a full-colour creamy lipstick. Give your cheeks a warm flush with a soft apricot blush like Bobbi Brown Apricot or Benefit Dandelion and you are ready for beach or boardroom. You never know unless you try...
