This season\'s navy smoky eye and products to get the look
Navy was one of this season\'s It colours. If you want to steer clear of blacks and smoky charcoals then opt for a navy blue or grey to give you a fresh, on-trend dramatic look. Marc Jacobs and Versace played with blues and splashes of violet on the autumn/winter catwalk and it really put a spin on the traditional smoky eye. Lisa Eldridge, No7 make-up artist and creative director, shares her step-by-step guide with us for wearing blues and plums this winter. Remember, it\'s the shape of this smoky eye that makes it so great so really go for it.
1. The shape of this look is essential so make sure you have good brushes. The tiny brushes that come with eye shadows will not enable you to get such a fabulously generous winged shape. Invest in a good bushy eye shadow blending brush. The addition of the electric blue shadow at the inner corners and underneath really make the eyes pop and gives a very three-dimensional feel. You could substitute the blue for any other bright jewel colour and achieve the same effect. We love plums if you want something with a more colourful finish.
2. To achieve this look first apply a graphite, smoky grey/black shade (something with a slight shimmer will be easier to blend) with a brush all over the lid extending to just above the socket line. Define the socket line all the way across from the inner corner to the outer edges. Gradually build up the depth and begin extending the colour out at the outer corners in a straight line from the socket line.
3. When you get to the outer edge of your eye socket bone start to take the colour in a V shape down to the under eye area. This will create a great dramatic extended eye effect.
4. Blend all along the under eye area with the same shade and then, taking a smaller brush, add the blue shade to the inner corner and trace along the lower eye area to about 2/3rds of the way along.
5. To finish, add black liner close to the lashes on the top lid and finish with lashings of black mascara. To add more colour, try a deep violet shade of eye liner on your lower lash line too.

get the gold smoky eye look with these products
Golds are divine for this time of year and were washed all over the A/W catwalk. Chloé and Ozzie Clark both added slicks of gold to their catwalk looks and it proved to be the ultimate smoky eye with a difference. Sparkly gold isn\'t just for teenagers, this season it is mature, glamorous and totally wearable. Our trick when applying shimmery eye colours is to apply a good eye make-up primer to your lids which will hold the colour all night long. Here is our step-by-step guide to achieving a fabulous gold smoky eye.
1. Apply a primer to clean eyelids liberally and leave it to dry.
2. For a really subtle look use a gold, powdered eye shadow like this MAC colour and take it right up towards your brow bone.
3. Apply another layer to build up the colour for a really bold finish.
4. If you want to add more definition then apply a gold eye liner along the lash lines like this sparkly Urban Decay liner.
5. For those that want to go all out, go back to your lids and dip your eye shadow brush into some water and then into the colours in this No7 palette and apply over the top of your base shadow for a foil like effect.
6. Finish with Guerlain mascara which comes with a black mascara one end and a gold mascara and mini brush the other, to add some sparkle to the tips of your lashes.

Beauty - black smoky eye look
Black smoky eyes don\'t always have to be extreme in fact this season there was a lot of emphasis on smudged eye liner and long lashes. Here celebrity make-up artist for The Body Shop Chase Aston shares with us his step-by-step guide to getting the ultimate smoky eye like that seen in the Zac Posen show. It\'s time to go back to black, just not as you know it.
1. Take The Body Shop Eye Shimmer in shade 06 Violet and, using a large eye shadow blender brush, blend shadow from the lash line up to the brow, and underneath the lower lashes, all around the eye. Use this as a base colour which isn\'t too dark or gothic.
2. Then take a black eye shadow and using an eye shadow brush blend from the lash line up to the crease of the eye, past the outer corners, and lightly underneath the lower lashes. Add all around the eye area.
3. Now take a black eye liner, softly pull down the lower eyelid, and then line along the rim of the inner bottom lid. Smudge and go over again.
4. Now using an eyelash curler, first curl your lashes then take a set of false eye lashes, apply the cluster lashes along the top lash-line only. Press on firmly to ensure the eyelash glue sets and the fakes stay in place. Then take a black mascara and apply two coats to both the top and bottom lashes. This will blend your fakes to your natural lashes, ensuring that the lashes stay put, all through the night.
5. Finally take a black liquid eye liner, and line along the top lash line, as close to the lash roots as possible, starting from the inner corner of the eye to just past the outer corner of the eye.

get this season wet look smoky eye
This wet look smoky eye can be brown, black or plum - all look great. It\'s a hot new trend that graced many a catwalk shows including Loewe, where this dramatic sweeping eye liner and eye shadow look first caught our attention. If you don\'t want to invest in lots of new wet look shadows then here are the essentials. We\'ve also heard that Vaseline tapped over your powder eye shadow will give it a wet look too and many make-up artists swear by using lip glosses.
1. There is no layering up of colours here, just go for one and apply to your eye lid, adding a second layer if you want a more dramatic look.
2. Add a contrasting colour to your lower lash line like they did at the Loewe show for a real wow-factor finish.
3. Finish with heaps of mascara.
