The clothes, hair and make-up weren't the only thing that eagle-eyed fashion-watchers were looking at during London Fashion Week, the nails were awesome and gave us a clear idea about what we'll be doing with our nails come Spring/Summer 2012. The nail trends were more creative, more eye-catching and more fun than ever before! Forget your normal nail polishes; these emerging trends are about so much more than just colour or shape.
The best looks we saw at London Fashion Week all involved cartoon-crazy motifs and designs, including Sophy Robson’s hieroglyphic symbols at Topshop S/S’12. Egyptian eyes and spiritual symbols applied with nail pens over base colours of lustrous gold, turquoise and coral pink complimented the Cleopatra-inspired clothes.
Over at PPQ and Meadham Kirchhoff S/S’12, nail wraps were the order of the day. PPQ went all-out eighties with chainlink gold keys (modelled by model of the moment, Charlotte Free, in this image.) Nail Rock produced the wraps for Meadham Kirchhoff, and creative directors Zoe and Mike Pocock were briefed to design fun, playful nails that captured the spirit of youth. We reckon the cute frilly hearts, ponies and doll faces on pastel backgrounds hit the nail on the head – they have caused such a frenzy of excitement, that Nail Rock are looking into putting them into production so that folks like us can grab a slice of Meadham Kirchhoff genius.
