Today I got a sneak peek at the autumn/winter make-up trends from über-cosmetic brand MAC.
As I pushed though crowds of tourists to the venue my brain was whirling with deadlines, and not what Im going to be doing with my make-up come September. But typically of MAC the presentation was cool, engaging and instantly exciting. Suddenly I was thinking, I am so over summers brights. I want next seasons nude lip, like, now!. Me? Fickle?
Terry Barber make-up genius and Director of Makeup Artistry, spilled the beans on what he and his stirlling team of MAC Artists did to create next seasons make-up trends. Were talking a monochrome colour palette, big, bold eye lashes, a return to the 60s usually a summer make-up trend playing with face painting and the re-working of strong lips. So far, so good, but what I got most excited about was the fact that Terry admitted that for next season, applying make-up isnt about precision, (hands up whos bored of trying to apply the perfect flick of black eyeliner?). Terry said, You wear your make-up; not the other way round. And he confessed that backstage the make-up artists used their fingers as much as their tools to create the looks.
So, while I love the polished looks of spring/summer 2011, I cant wait to get my fingers dirty with the make-up of A/W 2011, and its a pro technique that we can all master.
