Nail polish for valentines day
Step away from the classic red this Valentine\'s Day and go for pretty, approachable pastels. Short, glossy or matte - if you want to be completely on-trend - shades worn on well groomed nails will be a recipe for romantic success. These two new spring colours are our favourites: OPI\'s pearly baby pink for romantic nights in and this Marks & Spencer lilac for a playful finish to your little black dress.

Colour is back this year but thankfully it\'s much lighter, softer and more wearable than previous years. We love this new No7 palette that lets you experiment with greens and purples or stick to more classic coppery shades. Layer up the shadow along your eye lid first, then add a dash of colour on your lower lash line and build it up if you want a more dramatic finish (be careful, you don\'t want to scare him off!). Finally define your lower lashes with a dash of black eyeliner for a captivating catwalk finish.

\"Blue eyes should avoid any pinky-toned shadows as they will make the whites of the eyes look red,\" says Laura Martin. However these models prove that greens and purples can look amazing on blue eyes so now is the time to experiment.
\"Rich purples and violets look just incredible on green eyes and make them sparkle with life,\" says celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury.
Brown-eyed girls are lucky enough to suit most eye colours, but Ariane Poole suggests that if you don\'t want to ditch brown eye shadow from your beauty bag altogether change your shade and, \"Choose lighter coffee and cappuccino colours with a hint of shimmer to contrast with your brown eyes.\" We love the sexy coppery shades out for spring that mix well with creamy ivories and whites.

If you want to be a traditional red lipped lady there are several new options to try this year. We love the new L\'Oréal Colour Riche Serum lipsticks which contain a mix of the latest must-have colours and a rich new formula of hyaluronic acid and collagen which will hydrate and plump your lips.
