Bright sparks
By Sarah Green
Bright colours aren\'t just taking over your winter wardrobe, they\'re the way forward for every well-dressed lip and eyelid too. Plus seeing as fireworks night is the brightest time of year for the sky, why not light up your own look too this winter. As POP make-up artist Amanda Bell says, "When the temperature takes a downturn it\'s not necessarily a time to play your make-up safe. It\'s exactly this time that a flash of colour makes a true statement." With this in mind, here is handbag.com\'s pick of the brightest, flashiest make-up on planet beauty for some show stopping looks this season...

Bright eyes
When you\'re competing with spinning, sparkling catherine wheels for
attention and hiding under a woolly bobble hat, a bright pop of
eyeshadow is a guaranteed way to get you noticed. And this shimmering
magenta will definitely do that. Use a wide eyeshadow brush to take it over your lids up to your brows and then under the eyes to create one big, blended puff of colour. It\'s a good idea to go lightly and build up the intensity of your look in layers, unless you\'re sure you want to go for bold then a dampened brush will do it in one go.

If a spot of apple bobbing is on the agenda, it\'s a wise girl who will ensure her pout will stay glam-slam perfect. And with careful application, this hot, look-at-me stick of red lipstick dynamite won\'t be going anywhere. Start by patting a little foundation on to your lips to create a smooth base then line and fill your enire lip with red lipliner. Load a slim brush with lipstick and apply a thin coat, working from the tip of your Cupid\'s bow down to the outer corners
before painting across your bottom lip. For staying power, build lots
of thin, even layers instead of one thick one. The only rule is that the rest of your make-up should stay simple.

Soft clouds of bright sky blue create a prettier version of winter\'s
traditional smoky grey eyes, particularly if you\'re a bit of colour
wuss. Use your ring finger to cover your lids up to your sockets in a
wash of colour. So packed full of shimmer is this little pot, you\'ll
be spotted from the moon! Strong shades on your cheeks and lips could
look tacky so go for a faint flush of coral over your cheeks and keep
your mouth muted. Finish by flicking navy blue mascara on to just the
tips of your lashes to really make your eyes ‘pop\'.

Colourful lines
If a line of kohl is your idea of a fully made up face then this
electric blue eyeliner shot through with subtle shimmer was made for
your fireworks party. Just do whatever you normally do with your basic black pencil - draw one continuous line just behind your top lashes, winging it out towards your temples. Top it off with inky black lashes then temper the rest of your face with a dusting of bronzer and light coral lips. It\'s a bold colour but all it takes is confidence.

When the party crowd are screaming, "Ooh and aah!" are they talking about
the fireworks or the glittery eyeliner adorning your top lashline? If
you just can\'t tear yourself away from the look of trusty black (it is winter after all) at least give this clear liquid liner that\'s crammed full of black and silver glitter a go. Try a fabulous sex kitten flick by etching it along your upper lashline. Start thin in the inner corners and get thicker as you reach the outer edge, winging it upwards at your temples. Load on lots of black mascara then work it, baby. Want something a little more daring? It\'s also available in Drunk Dial, a cobalt blue or acid green Obsessed Fan.

Cheeky- Givenchy
If the chilly autumn weather isn\'t giving your cheeks the healthy
looking flush of colour you\'d like then this beyond-gorgeous dolly pink blush quartet will do the job instead. Four pretty pearlescent pink toned squares of colour, each injected with silicones and fine shimmer particles and a good sized brush are all housed inside a sparklingly stylish compact. Sweep the brush over all of the colours then blend it up from the apples of your cheeks towards your temples, keeping it clear of your hairline. Go gradually and build up the intensity slowly otherwise if you are pale, you could end up looking like someone who stood too close to the bonfire.
