Benfit dandelion blusher
After Dandelion came Georgia – another huge Benefit bestseller – but it\'s the original rosy smelling pinkness of Dandelion, and our eternal love for the wooden brush with adorable pink bristles, that continues to win us over. Add to that the fact that just a quick swipe of this subtly shimmering powder over cheekbones, brows and the bridge of the nose is more than enough to perk up the palest of faces and it never looks out of place with, or without, a tan. £22
face mask,Clarins,Illuminator
Clarins beauty flash balm
Still going strong, this flowery-smelling, peachy pink gel-cream gives skin a real, obvious, visible glow. A thin layer in the morning makes skin look moist again and if you\'re feeling sleepy, it packs a plumping punch that diminishes face fatigue and actually makes you feel more awake. I use it as a facemask, layered on thick whilst soaking in the tub, and washed off with ice-cold water for the ultimate sleep-in-a-tube. £22.50
scars,dry skin,Elizabeth Arden,Illuminator
Elizabeth Arden cream
It may smell a little bit like hospitals and the bright orange colour can be slightly alarming (especially when it\'s coming at you on the tip of an over-zealous girlfriend\'s finger – desperate to demonstrate how great it is), but this super balm really works. I\'ve used it on scars, dry skin, chapped lips – and as an eye gloss and cheek highlighter – and whenever it runs out (which takes FOREVER) I scoot straight over to my nearest Arden counter and snap it up all over again, without even considering another alternative. £19
nail varnish,Chanel
Chanel le vernis nail varnish
Rouge Noir, Rouge Noir, Rouge Noir (pictured). Yes, it\'s all about Uma and Pulp Fiction and the funky dancing and the cool Tarantino connection. But if you\'ve glanced down at fingers and toenails recently, you\'ll realise that everyone\'s caught on now, so it\'s no longer cool and cult. Quelle domage. But Chanel, being the glorious makeup makers that they are, make the best nail polish colours for \'ladies\', and Flamme Rose – a subtle, slightly peach, slightly pink, slightly nude shade – makes nails look like sugared almonds, skin look more golden and hands seem happier. J\'adore! £12
MAC,Illuminator
MAC strobe cream
There are the products that generate a quiet following and become secret staples for top make-up artists and then there are the items that every single fab face-maker raves on and on about. And this is definitely the latter. It\'s used at almost every show, every season, by every make-up maestro worth his or her salt, and produces the type of moon-face sheen that has become synonymous with Gemma Ward and Lily Cole. Not half bad then. £18.50
eyelash curlers,shu uemura
Shu Uemura lash curlers
There have been many claims to the eyelash-curling throne – from heat-up implements to battery-operated gadgetry – but these traditional curlers are the absolute best. With a generous rubber insert, that never catches or pulls out lashes, and a power-spring that clamps every last hair and whips it into a gravity defying upward arc, they really are a thing of beauty, and last forever. £19
blusher,Nars,Illuminator
Nars blusher
What\'s in a name? I doubt a blusher by any other name would appeal as much, or sell-out as often. Regardless of whether you\'re coy-at-heart or a wee bit brazen, every lady wants to look like she\'s basking in the \'afterglow\' and display a flush that could have been caused by an illicit tumble, pre-work, post-work, or even whilst nipping out at lunchtime (who knew you could have so much fun in your local Boots?). It\'s a golden, peachy shade that blends imperceptibly into skin, so you really do look like you\'re flushed for all the right reasons. £18
lip gloss,Stila,celebrity style
Stila lip glaze
When these babies launched, years ago now, they had an instant celebrity following. Cameron Diaz wore Raspberry (specially created for her) and the other Charlie\'s Angels found their perfect matches too (Lucy Liu loves Cranberry and Strawberry), but it was when we tried them ourselves that we became devotees. In so many flattering colours, we want them all, and at a new lower price for double the size, we might just manage it. £15
lip balm,Carmex
Carmex lip care
Whenever I offer this menthol smelling, hint-of-vanilla, tingling balm to friends they are always impressed by its comforting, emollient texture. It stays on lips far longer than most brands – through drinks and dinner, the fine moisturising film stays put – and the retro looking tubes are a big hit on the model circuit too. £2.25
mascara,Maybelline NY
Maybelline mascara
Will the cult following of this mascara ever dwindle? Even the biggest Hollywood moneybags opt for this drugstore favourite over more expensive brands because it\'s got the perfect formula. It inks up lashes (always opt for Blackest Black) with real ease, the narrow brush catches all skinny strays and the formula stays smudge-proof all day. What more do you want for less than a fiver? £4.99
