When: We were genuinely saddened to hear one of the most visually well-matched couples around were no more on 30th December 2011.
Before: When they first started stepping out, Katy and Russell had almost identical long black hair (a classic case of narcissism, perhaps?). Couples often mirror each other’s appearances, and Katy styled her hair in jet black waves - a more glamorous version of Russell’s trademark style. Her make-up was classic Betty Page beauty, too: pale skin, arched brows, flicked liquid eyeliner and fluttering false eyelashes.
After: Although Katy Perry hasn’t yet been seen since the split was announced, the end of last year saw her go through some dramatic hair and beauty makeovers. After leaving behind the California Gurl wigs and pin-up girl style, Katy played with streaks of colour, strawberry blonde locks and then a bright pink hair rinse for a while, before recently letting the colour fade to blonde with blue and green sections and cutting it into a short bob. She is almost unrecognisable from the girl Russell fell for – apart from those beautiful blue eyes framed by long lashes. From here, it looks like Katy might be searching for a fresh start in all aspects of her life, starting with her hair.
