When it comes to make-up, the red carpet is no place for the natural look. At last nights 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the stars looked great, each with their own interpretation of red carpet beauty.
Red lips are a red carpet staple, so it comes as no surprise that many Hollywood style icons opted for this classic look. Andrea Riseborough bravely teamed her flame red locks with a bright shade of red lipstick, which actually worked perfectly on her. Angelina Jolie showed us mere mortals how its done with a stunning shade of scarlet lipstick, offset by perfect porcelain skin and voluminous black eyelashes.
Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph stood out with her hot pink lips its a hard shade to pull off, but it looks lovely with Mayas luminous skin and black eyeliner. A great alternative to traditional red.
The trend for all things 60s continued with various retro beauty looks. Lea Michelle is a big fan of the smoky eye/pale lips combination, which always looks great on her. Her style icon Barbra Streisand would definitely approve of Leas nude lip colour! Jessica Chastain also looked exceptionally beautiful by combining a peach blush, tawny eye shadow shades and a pale, creamy cinnamon lip colour. Zooey Deschanel took 60s glamour to a whole new level with her heavy Bambi eyelashes (top and bottom), pale skin and subtle lilac lipstick. She looked infuriatingly gorgeous!
The feline smoky eye was also out in force, as seen on Rooney Mara and Emma Stone, who consistently looks great wearing this style. Rooneys take was a very subdued, minimal smoky eye, whereas Emma went for all-out siren glamour.
The handbag.com look of the night has to be Ms Deschanels unique take on 60s cool could she be about to start a new trend for lilac/violet/purple lipstick? Well be digging out our Rimmel Amethyst Shimmer lip colour just in case. Conversely, we were surprised by the normally goddess-like Charlize Theron; her barely there make-up look might have worked on a shoot, but it wasnt enough for the red carpet, leaving her looking washed out. Someone get that woman a red lipstick, pronto!
