With the London 2012 Olympic Games fast approaching, it has just been announced that three of the Team GB hopefuls are now working with some top beauty brands. Looking glamorous while doing any kind of sport-based activity is something we are yet to achieve, so kudos to these women for proving that it is humanly possible.
Cycling world champion Victoria Pendleton is the new face of Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek, which should keep her hair in check as she zooms around the track. She says “training outside everyday means the elements can play havoc with my hair, however the Smooth & Sleek range helps fight frizz and keeps my hair looking and feeling the healthiest it’s been.” High praise indeed!
Swimmer Keri-anne Payne will be wearing Max factor False Lash Effect gold edition mascara (our handbag.com Beauty Award winner) for the foreseeable future, while keeping her smile podium-perfect - apologies, the Olympic puns have started already - with the Oral-B Triumph 5000 toothbrush, which sounds champion worthy. Finally, world champion heptathlete Jessica Ennis is the new face of Olay Essentials, a new skincare range launching in March, specially designed to keep young skin clean, moisturised and protected. From our point of view, it is refreshing to see alternative women front up beauty campaigns; obviously, these three women are not your average human beings, considering that they are some of the world’s top athletes, but they are not models, or actresses, or It Girls. It’s great to think that especially after this summer, younger girls will have a whole host of new icons to look up to. These three women have an incredibly healthy lifestyle, great careers, and levels of dedication that we can all aspire to!
