A 17-year-old Keira makes her red carpet debut at the premier of her first Brit rom-com Bend It Like Beckham with polished but uninspired locks, beyond the pale skin and 'interesting' eye shadow. The newcomer needed to hone her red carpet look to guarantee her style icon status.

Thrust into the spotlight following a starring role in smash hit Pirates Of The Caribbean, Keira attends the star-studded London premiere with enviably glowing skin and subtle make-up that works. Her locks were now a deliciously rich chocolate shade but the 'do is more ‘don't' and still very much lacking in the A-list style stakes.

July sees Keira go goth. Again, the make-up is both winning and interesting but her locks, now jet black, are letting down her look.

By now, the úber-short crop was growing out into this cute elfin 'do - the flicks are flattering and the warm colour suits Keira's pale complexion.

As a career-defining role in Pride And Prejudice beckons, Keira goes blonder and lets the crop grow into this ‘safe' but pretty bob. We start to see her winning formula of smoky eyes and nude lips emerge.

Bored of waiting for her locks to grow, Keira sports these highlighted extensions with lashings of lashes and liner at the London premiere of Pride And Prejudice.

A look that guaranteed her style icon status, Keira opts for a look of chic elegance. We love, love, love her shimmering, smoky eyes, icy pink pout and gorgeously wavy side pony.

By early 2006 the extensions were gone and Keira was back to sporting the sophisticated blonde bob.

For her first Oscars outing at just 20 years old, the Best Actress nominee's make-up was flawless; stunning peacock blue/green shadow with lashings of lashes and porcelain-like skin. But we couldn't help but feel disappointed by her 'do. Lank locks lacking in shape and shine have no place on the most important of red carpets.

At the world premiere of Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 you can see how far Keira's come in the space of a sequel! Boy, does she get it right this time. Both grown-up and glamorous, her ivory matte complexion and subtly smoky eyes combined with youthful and fun hot pink lips look stunning. Meanwhile, her locks are finally wow-inducing and A-list fabulous, thanks to this body-beautiful kinky updo.

Just a month later and Keira goes for a complete image overhaul. The heavy metallic shadow is very on trend, but combined with the lank blonde locks and beyond the pale skin, the overall effect leaves Keira looking a little too gaunt.

By the following summer, Keira is back to her beauty-licious best, with gorgeously rich and warm locks in a carefree wave and the winning combination of smoky eyes/hot pink lips.

At the UK premiere of her best acting achievement to date, Keira's smouldering, spiky-lashed eyes, flawless complexion and relaxed 'do with stunning bejewelled Alice earns her our award for best red carpet beauty.

Just a week later, Keira tries out full curls for the first time with a style that really shows off her gorgeous colour job.

Still not sick of swapping her style, the following day Keira opts for this more demure look reminiscent of Hepburn and winning in every way.

By December Keira had come over all old-school Hollywood, with screen siren waves and ruby red lips.

Appearing here at the Berlin Film Festival, Keira sports her now infamous long blunt fringe and flowing auburn waves. As the star of the latest Chanel No5 adverts it's safe to say her new sophisticated look is a hit in the fashion world but we can't help thinking she should try something a little younger. It’s almost a year later and while Keira has kept the long glossy curls , she’s ditched her fringe in favour of an off-the-face side sweep. Opening up her face to show off her bold brows, she’s also opted for a cool brunette colour as opposed to the warm blondes and rich chocolates we usually see her wearing.

A couple of months later and Keira models a subdued look for The Laurence Olivier Awards. With paired down peachy make-up and a slightly flyaway up-do, it’s a move away from the glamourous Hollywood style make-up she was such a big fan of last year.

Choosing the front row of Chanel’s S/S 11 show to reveal her new look, Keira decides that a sleek sexy jaw-length bob is the style to see her into the winter months. Beautifully complementing her bone structure, it’s not hard to see why she’s remained the face of Chanel.

Giving her new ‘do it’s first airing on the red carpet at the Never Let Her Go premiere, Keira’s look is an update on the style she rocked circa July 2006 - a sharp bob with tousled waves - but this time it’s a warm winter brown that’s won the colour wars. Luscious long lashes, neatly defined brows and a pretty pearl-laden ensemble complete this super sophisticated and well-groomed style.
