This week we heard that our make-up bags are a beauty time-bomb waiting to go off. Don't panic we don't mean they are literally going to explode but word on the street is that our make-up bags are over four years out of date. Did you know that your mascara should be replaced every four to six months? How about your eye shadow which apparently should be replaced every 12 months when in reality we cling onto them for over a year and a half? Ekk! Talk about germs!
Debenhams recently revealed that our make-up products are well out of date, some by a staggering four years. Sara Stern, director of cosmetics at Debenhams said, "British women are famously loyal to make-up brands and products, however, their reluctance to throw away old products is a risky business. We wouldn't hesitate to chuck out mouldy or bacteria-ridden food and the same standards should apply to the lotions and potions and that we put on our skin. Beauty is timeless but unfortunately, products are not".
Their survey revealed that 68% of women replace their make-up and skin care products when they run out, however long that might take and that 72% of women never wash their make-up brushes, even though they should do at least once a week. Once a week?! Better get cleaning ladies!
What's more over 81% of British women regularly - at least once a week - go to bed without removing their make-up. Have we taught you nothing!?
Do you wash your brushes and replace old products or do you think this is another plan to scare us into buying more and more products. We know what we think, join the debate below.
