Sunbeds have picked up a rather bad reputation over the last couple of years. Until recently people used sunbeds without a second thought - a quick 20 minutes under the bright UV rays cost under a fiver and left skin looking sun-kissed. Of course today we are wiser and more clued up; not only will using sunbeds damage and prematurely age our skin but it can also lead to skin cancer. Recent research suggested that using sunbeds regularly can increase the risk of skin cancer by up to 75%, especially if you use it under the age of 30. True, sunbathing on holiday can be just as damaging if you don't wear SPF - and you're a fool if you don't - but an addiction to sunbeds means people use them all winter long too. Katie Price recently admitted to using them to keep warm in the winter. Unbelievable.
The problem is we are all striving for that perfect tan and for many people sunbeds are an easy way to do just that without the spray tan cost. It's these very reasons that celebrities are campaigning to change people's views on sunbeds. A-listers like Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole are finally ditching the orange tanned look proving that no matter how you get your tan less is definitely more and pale is still interesting.
