John,
The skin on my eyes is very uneven and blotchy, which makes it difficult for my eyeshadow to good and even. Can you recommend a base or colour neutraliser that I can apply before shadow?
Sonia
Sonia,
I will tell you about a few and you may need to go to the counters to try them out. From what you have said I would have though the best bet would be the Laura Mercier Shadow Bases. They look like concealer and come in a great range of shades. You will get proper skin toned coverage from these and they will hold your shadows on to boot. Clinique Canvas Touchbase is another industry favourite. The only problem with this is that it dries out quickly in the little compact. It was originally a cream eyeshadow but since everyone used it for what I am recommending to you, they re-positioned it. BeneFit Lemonade is a cream yellow shadow base to help even out redness on the eyelids. It works wonders if your blotchiness is red rather than dry. Finally, Lauder's Automatic Eyelid Foundation is a pale lilac shade that lightens and smoothes the lids. Like the Laura Mercier it helps to hold your eye makeup on for the day as well.
Regards,
John
Hi John
I have a problem with my nails. I grow them and look after them, never put them in water unless washing my skin, but when they grow they bend over towards the tip of my finger. They don't even have to be very long and they do it, is there anything I can do to stop them? I've tried nail strengtheners but to no avail.

Sorry mate but it is just the growth pattern of your nails. I even called a nail tech and she said this is one that you just have to live with. It is like naturally curly hair but without the option of hair straighteners! Wish I could tell you otherwise...

Dear John
I am about to embark on a year of travelling. I have combination skin and normally use Dermalogica but I am looking for more of a budget buy, which will moisturise and protect skin that is exposed daily to sun, sea, and sand every day.
Thanks
Tina
Tina,
I really like the Neutrogena Face Lotion SPF15. You would have you protection and moisture wrapped up in a single product and it is available pretty nearly everywhere. Knowing the texture of the Dermalogica products, I think you would be happy with this one. Add those to a nice set of face wipes like the L'Oréal Paris De-maq Specialist and you should be set! Have a great time and travel safely.
Bon Voyage,
John
