We review Ministry of Waxing, the new waxing salon causing a sensation in and around London

Womangetting a waxFinding a good bikini waxer is about as dicey as hunting down the perfect hair stylist. Most of us have lain and gritted our teeth through waxes that would make a grown man weep, moaned to friends when we've left feeling robbed of our cash and and remained silent and smiled when asked if we're happy with the finished product when we're really, really not. For me, my last bikini wax was so traumatic (we're talking tears here) I have never been back and gone down the inconvenient and rather uncomfortable Veet route instead. So when the opportunity arose to test out a Brazilian wax at the new Ministry of Waxing in London, currently causing a sensation in the beauty world, it was with some trepidation that I agreed.

The Ministry of Waxing is a brand new waxing salon that offers nothing but waxing for men and women, so when you book you can be assured that you are getting a therapist trained specifically in waxing and nothing else. They offer everything from a BSC (that's back, crack and sack to you and me) to your standard Brazillian, which means everything off bar a ‘landing strip'.

Walking into the salon I was immediately put at ease with the cheeky spray-painted slogans and funky art installations made of wax hanging from the walls. The main thing that makes Ministry of Waxing so special though is their incredibly high level of hygiene and a relatively new form of wax which only binds to the hair not the skin, meaning less pain and time. The Ministry has also gone one step further and developed its own line of post-wax care products to make the entire journey as comfortable as possible. The range includes X'ed Out, an alcohol-free treatment containing pineapple enzyme and tea tree to sooth and treat skin irritations, and Ice Cream, a soothing, calming cream that puts out any skin flames with lasting moisture.

So how was my Brazillian experience? Well, I wouldn't say it was a walk in the park but as bikini waxes go it was the best and least painful I've ever had, I even managed to maintain a conversation with my therapist throughout! My wax phobia is well and truly cured and I'll definitely be back for a repeat visit.
