Get the look: Sarah Jessica Parker
This month, she's heading to the big screen as TVs favourite city slicker Carrie Bradshaw, and here's how to get her beauty look...
She has a wardrobe to die for and a Manolo's habit we would kill to have and we haven't even mentioned her looks or her hair. Sarah Jessica Parker, aka SJP or Carrie Bradshaw for all Sex and the City diehards, holds one of Hollywood's most enviable head of curls and a tried and trusted beauty style that brings out her natural glamour and glow.
There's no other way to start an SJP Get the Look, other than with her hair! Whether slicked straight or tumbling in curls and ringlets, Sarah Jessica Parker knows it's her best asset and she flaunts it.
Curl prep
Whether you have a full set of curls, a natural kink in your hair or it's simply straight, an SJP transformation is more than possible. Prepare your hair for a curl-tastic treatment by washing with a curl-boosting shampoo and conditioner and if some extra star-pampering is in need, apply a nourishing hair mask for extra heavenly hair. Curly hair is prone to more dryness than other hair so something like L'Oreal Paris Elvive Smooth Intense Smoothing Masque will not only inject hair with moisture, it will keep locks smooth and frizz-free too.
Curl action
Now it's time for some curl action, so get the styling tool box poised and ready. Prepping is essential when it comes to glossy, glamorous locks, so apply L'Oréal Paris StudioLine Perfect Curls Curling Mousse, £3.69, after towel-drying hair and just before heat styling. This will ensure curls dry glossy, smooth and full of body and bouncy.
Then use a pair of tongs with a large barrel, wrapping medium sized sections of hair away from you, starting at the bottom of each strand and working your way up. Don't touch the hair until it's all done. When complete apply some smoothing agent to keep curls tidy and intact, like Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Smoothing Cream, £2.49. This can be used to keep the crown of the head frizz-free too.
Pretty perfect
SJP's make-up is pretty simple but always looks glam. She has striking features and knows how to make the most of her natural beauty. Eyes are always rimmed in soft, smokey browns and greys and lips are always slicked with peachy gloss or lipstick.
Use a trio or set of eyeshadows that come in complementing shades for the best impact. Go darker around the rim of the eyes and work up to a lighter shade, particularly in the inner sockets and brow bone. Ms Parker would suit browns or greys so try Maybelline New York Expertwear Trio Eyeshadow in Vintage Grey, £5.99 for a soft version of the smoky eye. Then you can go all out on the mascara with lashings of a dark, glossy black, like L'Oréal Paris Lash Architect, £8.99, which has a 3D technology to volumise and intensify lashes.
Finally finish with some peachy-pink touches on lips and cheeks. Add a slick of lip gloss such as L'Oréal Paris Glam Shine 6 in Forever Nude, for combined staying power and shine and a similar shade on cheeks, such as New Maybelline New York Pure.Blush Minerals, £6.99 in Opal Rose or Plum Alchemy, for a shimmering but lightweight glow to cheeks. Now you're ready to hit the city Parker style!
