With an important event on, where camera's will be a' flashing, a quick desk-to-dancefloor make-over just doesn't cut it. So when myself and handbag Editor Natasha found ourselves with an after-work awards ceremony and a ‘bad hair day' to boot, we hotfooted it down to The Lounge Soho - without doubt W1's coolest boutique salon.

Buzzing with new business following the recent revamp, The Lounge Soho is oh-so laid back and hip it hurts. An urban interior with contemporary styling and a chilled out ambiance, a session with the stylists feel a lot like a girly chat over a glass of wine, whilst owner Joe Mills adds to the atmosphere by alternating weekly music play lists created by him and his lovely wife. It's the personal touches that make this salon truly unique.

While I opted for a full cut and colour, Natasha dropped in for a quickie glamour-on-the-go style make-over, where the lovely Lounge ladies even suggested hair accessories and popped out to purchase one for her new ‘do.  We both went to the awards happy and looking fabulous!

Best for: Turning a salon trip from a chore to an enjoyable experience
