Fed up of never getting what we want from the hairdressers, we sat down with Cos Sakkas, Toni & Guy International Artistic Director, to learn exactly how to approach the challenge.
Here's his expert advice...
Talk it through
Be sure to make the most of your consultation. Really describe the look and feel you're going for.
Bring in as many visual references as possible, they'll always help the stylist get a better idea of what you want.
Ask about your face shape
When discussing the cut you would like, keep in mind your face shape and ask the stylist's opinion on what would suit your features best. They'll be able to advise on the fringe length or layers that will help to bring out your cheek bones and eyes.
Explain how you wear your hair normally and what your day-to-day hair routine is.
Share your hair history
If you have any issues with your hair such as dryness, breakage or frizz, now's the time to speak up.
When going to the hairdressers, try to make sure you also have you hair in its usual style. So if you have curly hair? It's best not to straighten it.
