Resse Witherspoon hit the Oscars red carpet with a head full of glamorous waves last night.
Romantic, classic and reminiscent of vintage Hollywood icons, it's a look we totally want to steal!
So luckily, hairdressing genius James Galvin is here to tell us how...
Step 1: Prep hair with a blow dry lotion like L'Oreal's Tecni Art Architect and, if you have quite frizzy hair, apply a smoothing lotion or serum too. Then brush the hair with a round brush to smooth the cuticle and eradicate any frizzy areas.
Step 2: Decide on where you want your parting to sit, then clip away the section of hair from the top of your head to just behind the ear. It's best to use a medium-sized curling wand or tong to get the waves - if you're using tong however, don't let the clamp touch your locks!
Step 3: Start with the heaviest side. Holding your wand or tong with the barrel facing forwards, take a section of hair that is approximately two inches wide and one inch deep. Start to twist the hair about three inches from the root, then wrap it around your wand or tong.
TIP: Remember to make sure the hair is twisted all the way to the very end while curling, for the best effect.
Step 4: Hold the hair on the wand/tong until the wave is fixed, and then gently pull the tool out of the hair, making sure to keep the wave wound. Use a Kirby grip to pin the wave to its base, and then continue around your whole head.
Step 6: Once you have finished curling and pinning, remove the grips and gently shape with a Mason Pearson brush (they're my favourite!).
TIP: I like to finish with a spritz of L'Oreal Anti Frizz hairspray, as it's very workable and doesn't leave the hair feeling ridged.
So what do you think? Will you be trying out Reese style-waves?
