How do you approach it? A lot like you would a new Christmas party dress, says P&G fragrance expert Will Andrews...
"There is a very interesting parallel between clothes and perfume – both dress the body, both make a stylistic statement and both are often constructed from precious materials which are crafted into their final form."
YOUR SCENTED IMAGE
"It is important to consider how perfume fits with the wearer's personality and their outfit," says Will.
"We view perfume as the essential final step in any beauty regime, because even though it is invisible, it completes your 'look' - a well-chosen perfume conveys your scented image and it leaves a lasting impression on those around you."
ACCESSORISING WITH SCENT
Like fine jewellery or a statement handbag, perfume can also be considered an essential final step in any dressing ritual. "It becomes the finishing touch which ties everything together," says Will.
"The scent should be considered as carefully as other elements of the outfit – it all needs to work together harmoniously to be really effective."
THE PERFUME TRIANGLE
To sum up his new approach to picking your perfect perfume, Will suggests imagining it as a love triangle, of sorts.
"Imagine a triangle, where perfume is at one point, clothes are at another and personality of the wearer is at the other. These three aspects must all closely relate to one-another, in order to deliver the perfect presentation of you."
