Don't settle for the same old sugary syrups and sauces this pancake day. Pack your pancake with tasty healthy alternatives for a tasty Shrove Tuesday.
- Chopped banana - Banana's are a great source of potassium and energy
- Blueberries - Cook a handful of blueberries in your pancake, American style. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins.
- Yoghurt and chopped nuts - Try walnuts, crushed macadamias and hazelnuts mixed with low fat yoghurt for a crunchy topping. Nuts are a great source of omega 3 and the yoghurt will provide you and baby with plenty of calcium.
- Strawberries - Slice and mix with low fat yoghurt for another deliciously sweet topping. Strawberries are one of your 5 a day which help to provide the vitamins, minerals and fibre your baby needs..
What about a savoury pancake?
Try out ham with grated low fat cheddar cheese and broccoli. You'll get a meal packed with protein, calcium and iron all rolled up in a neat little package!
