The key to healthy eating is moderation.
Although a few chips every now and then won't hurt, trying out a more nutritious alternative will provide you and your growing bump with more goodness.
Chips that have been deep fried in oil are very high in fat and calories.
French fries also contain a lot of salt and are particularly high in trans fats and saturated fats. This can all contribute to raising the level of cholesterol in your blood.
For a healthier alternative try making sweet potato wedges at home. Peel and slice a sweet potato into wedges, lightly drizzle with olive oil and bake at gas mark 5/180°C for around 35 minutes.
Sweet potatoes are a great source of vitamins and fibre, they're also inexpensive and versatile. Make them into mash or add them to stews and curries for a tasty alternative to regular potatoes.
