Not all food swaps in pregnancy have to be drastic changes. Even just switching from white bread to wholemeal can make a difference.
White and wholemeal breads are processed differently. Because the grains in white bread are refined, much of the goodness is stripped away during production.
Wholemeal bread is rich in vitamins B1, B2 and B3, zinc, iron and folic acid. It's also higher in fibre, which will help you to avoid becoming constipated, which is a common problem in pregnancy.
Try making a healthy sandwich on brown bread and experiment with different fillings. Avocado, tuna or chicken are all great alternatives to your everyday ham and cheese and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
