The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her first born son - whose first name has yet to be revealed - shortly after 4:24pm, weighing 8lbs 6oz.
Kensington Palace confirmed the news ahead of the traditional announcement on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace this evening.
The official notice posted on an easel outside the Palace read, "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
K Middy went into labour at 6am this morning, where she was then admitted to a private Lindo wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington.
The Prince Charles has since issued the following message, "Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.
"Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
Following his father's statement, Prince William said simply, "We could not be happier", as he prepares to spend the night with Kate and their new baby boy.
Congrats to Kate and Wills!
