The Duchess of Cambridge is set to be the first royal to celebrate her pregnancy by having a baby shower.
Kate Middleton is breaking royal tradition and her sister Pippa Middleton, who recently published a book on party planning, is planning the party, according to a new report.
Although baby showers have become increasingly popular amongst celebrities and young mums to be, it's typically not a tradition in royal families. Despite her modern approach, Kate is still hoping that the Queen will attend the shower.
"It was her sister Pippa's idea," a friend of Kate told OK! magazine.
"While it's all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close. They bonded big time and really enjoy each other's company. Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it."
And since her younger sister is such a party planner, she has it all taken care of.
"Pippa is in charge of decorations," the insider adds. "Wine and beer will be available — not that Kate will be drinking alcohol, of course!'
