An interview with Gabby Logan

You brought out a fitness DVD after giving birth to your twins. Did you feel pressured to get back into shape quickly because you're in the public eye?
Of course, so I decided to work with my personal trainer, Colin Allan, to create an easy to follow regime that was sensible and healthy, yet offered real results. I focused on getting fit in a couple of months, rather than a couple of weeks.

Do you think there's too much pressure on women in general to get their figures back quickly after giving birth?
I think perhaps there is pressure for women to get back into shape quickly. This is not realistic or healthy. That's why I recommend a regime like the L'Oreal PerfectSlim Countdown, as your goals are long term, rather than quick fixes.

Do you have an exercise regime you follow week in week out? If so what kind of things do you do i.e: swimming on Monday, running on Tuesday etc
I am kick starting my own exercise regime at the moment, the lighter nights and the lighter mornings make it more enticing to exercise outdoors which is a great endorphin booster. I think the spring time is a great time to think ahead to the summer you start now you'll be a fantastic shape by the time those shorts come out!

With the twins arrival you've joined the ranks of the working mum. How do you juggle work and your family and still find time to exercise? Any tips?
It took me a few months from starting to work out to feeling like a close version of the old me. I will never have the same body as before, after all it has done an amazing thing, but I feel fit and healthy. I stay motivated because I really like feeling fit and training; it gives me energy which I need lots of with the babies and my job, as well as running a house and being a good wife to my husband. It helps that my husband likes exercise too.

Have you always looked after your health and exercised regularly?
Yes, exercise is something that has always interested me and I do try and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Do you think good nutrition is as important as exercise? Do you follow any specific diet?
I never dieted at all after the babies and haven't to this day. When I had them I was breast feeding so I had to eat well and eat a lot. After I stopped feeding I didn't have time to follow a faddy diet, I ate well so that I could function properly as a working mum and I needed the energy if I was going to work out.
I think the key is trying to regard exercise and eating well as part of your life, occasionally you'll slip up and fall off the wagon but if you lead a healthy life you don't need to yo yo diet or suddenly expect your body to be fit when it has never done anything like that before.

Would you rather be talking about or doing sport?
'Doing definitely – I especially love to run'

Do you experience 'bikini fear' before heading on to the beach for the first day of a holiday or are you pretty body confident?
Doesn't everyone? But if you start early to get your body into shape for the summer and follow the Perfect Slim Countdown it is possible to tone and firm your body so you feel confident wearing a bikini.

Whose body do you envy?
I admire anyone who has firm toned curves, and looks like a real woman.

What's your favourite way to unwind?
'Sleep! – I love to have a glass of wine and settle down in front of the television with my husband and a good film

Do you ever get run down and if so how do you combat it?
'If I feel I am getting run down I take some vitamins and make sure my diet is well balanced. I also try and cancel things that can be easily cancelled and make sure that I get plenty of extra sleep'

How would convince someone who is exercise-phobic to jump on the fitness bandwagon?
I would recommend training with a partner or a friend it's a great way to get going and I also believe you can get fit at home; I didn't go to a gym until the babies were five months old. I have put together a DVD of all the routine I did to get fit after the babies. I found that giving myself a massage with a product like Perfect Slim helped to get my legs into shape too.
