What is the best way of getting a recruiter to pick your CV out of the pile?
I always do something wacky – like printing it on rainbow paper, adding clip art or attaching a picture
I go to town with eye-catching headings, interesting fonts and capital letters
I try to make the recruiter's task easy by setting out clearly how my experience relates to the requirements of the job
I use attention-grabbing words to make the whole thing sound really positive

How do you start constructing a CV?
I start by writing the usual headings (qualifications, career history, personal details) then try to put something under each one
I look at how others have built their CVs and try to copy the best ones
I spend a while thinking how my skills match those that the employer requires
I go in at the deep end and start to write down everything I can think of

What would you never include in your CV?
Personal details (age, marital status, race or religion) and irrelevant qualifications
A recent photo
Qualifications gained outside the context of work
Nothing is left out of my CV

What goes right at the top of your CV?
Just my full name
The words CURRICULUM VITAE
My name, telephone number(s) and email
My name, postal address, email, telephone and mobile numbers
